'The devil' is in the bickie jar

Don't we all dream of feeling amazing and having real self esteem? One LaTrobe student has found the magic key. The chatty blonde, dressed ready for gym tells me as we walk to the canteen, processed food 'is like the devil' and I laugh nervously, feeling guilty, I love Tim Tams.

When C starts to tell me about her healthy lifestyle I soon realise it is not a phase or New Year's revolution. A dislike of appearance has led to a complete life transformation for C, who admits it is because of 'too many chins' she decided to change her life. These days she participates in regular exercise, eats healthy food and drinks plenty of water, every day. When talking to C she emphasises how amazing she feels and it is obvious she will never revert to her old self.

Spending a considerable amount of time preparing meals and exercising, displays dedication to a real passion. Saving money, boosting self esteem, feeling energetic and never bloated are major positives of the healthy lifestyle. Feeling better is the major benefit of healthy eating for C, who admits she 'feels amazing all the time'.

The fit and healthy 21 year old believes everyone should try to be healthier in order to fulfil their potential. C emphasises the improvements to her life due to following a healthy regiment and says she has even helped others implement a similar lifestyle.

Healthy eating has led to a major interest in cooking, especially using vegetables. C says her favourite ingredients are incredibly versatile and include eggs, chicken, egg plant and quinoa. The dishes C creates are infused with Asian influence, loving the light and fresh style of cooking. Good nutritious value is paramount in C's decisions when it comes to what she consumes and searing vegetables lightly, retains nutrients.

C admits it isn't always easy being healthy, especially when it comes to parties or going out, rather than give in to temptation she opts to prepare meals before.

C doesn't sugar coat the healthy lifestyle and sure it isn't for everyone, however we could all better ourselves through dedication to living a more positive lifestyle. As the interview ends I feel like eating an apple and maybe leave 'the devil' in the bickie jar.-Dust and All

Letter to the Editor, Blog & Media Release

Liverpool City Council wants to ban people from eating fish and chips traditionally wrapped in paper. It wants fish and chip lovers at pavement cafes to use a plate and knife and fork so they don’t drop the wrappers in the street, leading to high clean-up costs. Locals say this will kill off an age-old British tradition.

Letter to the editor:

What is this? The Council controlling our lives. Taking away our freedom, our tradition. Since the beginning of time we have eaten fish and chips with our hands from paper, NOT knives and forks from plates. How dare they! What will they ban next? No takeaway coffee cups for you, instead you have to carry a porcellein mug, it is ridiculous.

Yours Sincerely
Fish and Chips for life

Blog:

I love fish and chips. Why are my rights being denied? My food is fish and chips, how can you not love the ritual of eating so many chips you feel the beer batter in your stomach swirling and the tactile of the paper the delicacy comes packed in. Fish and chips is not simply food, it brings people together through common love of this dish. I sincerely hope the council reconsider their decision-soon.

Media Release:

Proposed Fish and Chip Ban

The Liverpool City Council has proposed a ban on fish and chip paper wrapping at pavement cafes, due to the high cost of cleaning up the wrapping.

Banning wrappers will improve the overall scenery of the streets. The ban will improve the environment with no lose papers floating around the streets. This will save money, we will no longer need to employ cleaners to collect the wrappers, the money as a result will fund a new library for the local school.

The Liverpool Mayor stated 'this is a great move in the right direction for our city and the environment'.

Spokesperson for the Liverpool City Council said 'it is a necessary measure in helping our council become more respectable'.

The Liverpool City Council endeavours to create a small town atmosphere in the city.
